It's no secret that Washington County is growing fast. With the influx of new residents comes a massive wave of new businesses, franchises, and out-of-town service companies setting up shop in the 435. Here is how that changes the local landscape and what it means for residents.
A few years ago, you knew the guy fixing your AC or painting your house because your neighbor recommended him. Today, the sheer volume of new construction and home sales means there are dozens of new "local" companies that actually operate out of Vegas or Salt Lake City, just running a satellite office here.
This isn't necessarily a bad thing—competition drives quality. But it does mean that relying solely on a quick Google search or a glossy flyer in your mailbox isn't enough to guarantee you're getting someone who understands Southern Utah's unique environment.
When everyone claims to have "20 years of local experience," how do you actually verify it? You have to look past the marketing layer and look at the public record.
Keeping our money local means supporting the restaurants, shops, and tradesmen who actually live here, send their kids to school here, and invest back into Washington County.
